Arduino is a fantastic way to get started with programming.
The learning curve for programming has traditionally been very steep. Not only is the syntax unfamiliar, but the logic of programming will take some time to grasp. It’s a stressful experience for many people.
The good news is that the Arduino code is tolerant of mistakes. While there is still a learning curve, it is significantly less complicated than attempting to code the first smartphone app or game.
Any language can be used to program an Arduino, but the Arduino IDE is the best place to start (Integrated Development Environment). This is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and other operating systems. The IDE provides libraries for various hardware modules, such as LEDs and switches, and supports C and C++. A program, referred to as a “sketch,” is completed and uploaded to the Arduino board using a USB cable. It can be run from here and will stay in memory until it is replaced.
