The Do’s and Don’ts of Brazilian Wax Aftercare for Men

While getting waxed, most men don’t think about the importance of aftercare and its benefits—until it’s too late. If you want to avoid uncomfortable situations later on, make sure you take good care of yourself once you get back home from your appointment with your waxing specialist. These are some of the things you should do after your Brazilian wax to make sure that the process goes as smoothly as possible and that you feel great right away.

What to expect after your first wax

When you first get waxed, you will experience some sensitivity. Similar to shaving, your skin may feel a little raw.And the waxed area will be a little sore and red. That’s quite normal and you don’t need to worry about it. You can  apply ice packs to sore areas to reduce swelling and redness.

How to care for your skin

The area may feel a bit itch, redness and sore. Do not take hot shower or bath it may causing more skin irritation, luckwarm water is perfect after waxing. When showering or bathing, don’t scrub; opt for a soft washcloth instead. Your best bet is an oil-based moisturizer—don’t use soap directly on your skin for two weeks following treatment; instead apply your moisturizer first. Then try to stay out of tanning bed after your waxing appointment until your skin has completely healed .

Avoid ingrown hairs

It’s not common to experience ingrown hairs after getting a wax, but it can happen if you don’t follow proper post-waxing care. Some men have sensitive skin that reacts poorly to waxing. If your skin becomes red or irritated, avoid shaving until it calms down. For faster healing, apply aloe vera gel after you shower. And if ingrown hairs develop—you’ll know because they’ll be really painful—apply ingrown cream or seek professional tweezers as soon as possible!

Why it’s good to use a gentle soap

A good reason to use a gentle soap is because it’s much more soothing to freshly-waxed skin than regular soap. Strong detergents will strip your skin of its natural oils, making it dry, itchy, flaky—and just not good to look at. Instead of risking sensitive skin after waxing, use a gentle cleanser that rinses off cleanly without leaving any residue behind. One thing that can help speed up your healing process: exfoliating.

Keep an eye on changing skin

To make sure you don’t end up with a skin rash, remember to keep an eye on your skin in between waxes. If you notice any changes, immediately visit your doctor. Most men report little discomfort beyond some mild pain or redness during waxing itself.

But as with any hair removal technique, be aware that some men have reported experiencing skin irritations following waxing like infections or ingrown hairs. Therefore, it is best to be careful when removing hair from sensitive areas such as down there; always get it done by a professional so that no mistakes can happen!
